# Ember > Ember turns a cut into word-timed subtitles, gives you a timeline to fix them, and places styled captions and polish back into DaVinci Resolve. Ember is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that generates word-timed subtitles for DaVinci Resolve, places them back on the timeline as styled captions, and adds the polish around them: zooms, transitions, music, sounds, Flares, B-roll, Hide Cuts and looks. It renders video files, not caption files, and every plan renders clips to a folder. Posting to social accounts and Ember Engine are part of Pro and Max; with Ember Engine, Ember can edit and render without Resolve. These pages explain product behavior and workflows. They deliberately omit internal implementation details. ## Documentation ### Start here - [Getting started with Ember](https://www.embersubs.com/docs): Install Ember, connect it to DaVinci Resolve, and take a cut from raw dialogue to finished captions in one pass. ### Captions - [Captions: generate, verify and edit](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/captions): The three pipelines, the subtitle editor, tracks, gaps and highlights: everything between raw dialogue and approved text. - [Furnace: rough cuts before captions](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/furnace): Turn a long recording into a usable rough cut: trim pauses, clean up takes, let Cast choose short-form clips, and align an approved script. ### Style and motion - [Styles and Sparks](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/styles): Caption Styles, typography, colour and the animated details that make a subtitle look deliberate. - [Magic Shuffle: Waves and Formations](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/shuffle): Give captions pacing and motion: Waves change the rhythm, then Formations arrange neighboring single-line blocks. - [Ignite: captions and polish in one pass](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/ignite): One pass places the captions and the polish around them: zooms, transitions, music, sounds, Flares, B-roll, Hide Cuts and a LUT. ### Delivery and agents - [Export: renders and social delivery](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/export): Render the clips in a Resolve timeline or an Ember project to a folder, or post them to a social account where a platform is available. - [Ember with AI agents](https://www.embersubs.com/docs/agents): Ember is built to be driven by an assistant: an MCP server exposes the same captions, timeline, graphics and export the app does. ## Notes - The app is the current source of truth. Settings and limits may change between releases; each page describes the behavior a current build provides. - Caption and reusable graphic presets are called Styles in all user-facing copy. - Inside the desktop app, an AI assistant reads the `ember://guide` resource and each MCP tool's schema, which are more current than this site. Plan gates are stated on each feature page and on /pricing. ## Optional - [Pricing](https://www.embersubs.com/pricing) - [Compatibility and requirements](https://www.embersubs.com/compatibility) - [Support](https://www.embersubs.com/support)
